Home Inspectors are limited to inspecting the exterior of an electrical panel. AKA a visual inspection.

Residential Electrical Panels.

Rumor has it that home inspectors will be allowed to continue to perform residential electrical inspections.

This is false because at no time has anyone other than an electrical safety inspector been allowed to perform electrical inspection.

No inspecting electrical panels.

Who can Inspect?

The law is clear and has been clear since the 1970's.

3783.06 Certificate required.

No person shall engage in the practice of electrical inspection in this state unless he is the holder of a certificate of competency as an electrical safety inspector issued under Chapter 3783. of the Revised Code. Any person practicing or offering to practice electrical inspection shall show proof of his certification upon request as provided by rules of the board of building standards.

Effective Date: 03-22-1973.

Where do I find an Electrical Inspector?

Inspecting Electrical Panels is not a listing in the phone book and other than our list here and the list provide by the State of Ohio you can't find an electrical inspector.
